Functional 3D Printing to Accelerate Innovation and Drive Manufacturing Excellence
Description

While 3D printing is ubiquitous, it is often viewed chiefly as a tool for creating aesthetic objects and toys.  This talk explores the realm of functional 3D printing as it applies to the industrial setting.  Eastman has deployed a wide variety of additive technologies that have allowed shortened innovation cycles, reduced manufacturing costs, and enabled new business.  Case studies will be used to discuss the advantages of different technologies, and compare 3D printer options regarding cost, facility/operator requirements, and scale.  Also considered are the end goals desired by the user, from designing marketable parts to digital warehousing, and how this contributes to investment justification and ROI.
